Uncle Ken

In August 2008, I became an Uncle for the first time. Lorna and Cyrelle welcomed baby James Kenneth Egan to the family. I was in Hospital at the time, I had a health set back at the time where I lost 25% of my lung function. My doctors where very concerned as to what was going on with my lungs and I was in hosptial having several tests done. After I got the news that James was born and all was good with him and Lorna I went up to hospital chapel for a quiet prayer. I was so happy that I began to cry, a woman nearby thought I had received some bad news. She reached over to hand me a prayer book. I explained to her that I had become an uncle and thanked for the kind offer. I was crying tears of Joy.

James had us all praying for him throughout Lorna's pregnancy. Lorna and Cyrelle where concerned that James may be born with Cystic Fibrosis, as they both are carriers of the CF gene. So the chance that James would be born with CF was 1 in 4. Thankfully he was born healthy and did not have CF. Lorna had seen how much I'd gone through and prayed that her baby would not have to do the same.

James is now four years of age now. I find it so hard to believe, time seems to be flying by. James and I are the best of friends, he thinks I am the same age as him. I have to do whatever he is doing and he does not give me a minute to myself and I love it.

In May 2010 I became an uncle for a second time. Gary and Evelyn welcomed Luka Parkes. After a long labour he arrived into the world and our lives have not been the same since. I am his God Father and can't believe how fast he is growing too.  Luka is a fast learner and was walking since he is 10 months old, it seems like he has been talking since then too. He is a little chatter box and loves a laugh, both he and James have the most amazing sense of humour. They are always in good form and entertain us all day long. I thank God for all the Joy and Happiness they have brought to the family. We are all looking forward to the New arrival of Lorna and Cyrelle's baby in March of 2013.  Please keep Mammy, Daddy, James and Baby in your prayers.
